The Buffalo Bill Museum of LeClaire is organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes and to such ends is given the power to establish, to provide facilities for, to maintain and operate a museum to preserve early history, documents and relics pertaining to the Mississippi River, the Indian race, and William Cody, more commonly known as Buffalo Bill, early American life and settlers, and with particular emphasis to be placed on the relations of the above, and the connection with LeClaire Township and Scott County.

The Geneseo Historical Museum features displays of local people and places in an Italianate-style home built in the mid-1800’s. Walk through the 27-rooms which tell the story of how people lived in the past and Geneseo’s history.Hanging in the main floor living area is a chandelier to take your breath away.åÊ Each room is decorated with history and one room you will want to visit is the basement. Geneseo was founded by a group of religious colonists that emigrated from New York. They left New York because they were opposed to slavery and were abolitionist. View the space used for runaway slaves escaping the north on the Underground Railroad.

The Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park, also just called the Hennepin Canal, is an abandoned waterway in northwest Illinois, between the Mississippi River at Rock Island and the Illinois River near Hennepin. The entire canal is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Opened in 1907, the canal was soon abandoned because of railroad competition. It was resurrected in the late 20th century as a recreational waterway. Its former name was the Illinois and Mississippi Canal. The main canal length is 75.2 miles , and its feeder canal is 29.3 miles long. The state park spans five counties (Rock Island, Bureau, Henry, Lee and Whiteside) and is 104.5 miles long.

Johnson-Sauk Trail State Recreation Area is an Illinois state park on 1,365 acres in Henry County, Illinois, United States. The park also has a 58-acre lake (Johnson Lake) with various types of fish. The lake has boat rentals and a maximum depth of 21 feet. The park has many trails, and a campground. Ryan's round barn has a tour every year in the park. Near the round barn, is a scenic 3-acre pond which is a great place to hike to.
